THCA edibles behave very differently from smoked or vaped THCA. Understanding how they work is essential before your first dose.

How THCA Edibles Work

Raw THCA is not psychoactive. For edibles to be effective, the THCA must be decarboxylated into THC. This happens during the manufacturing process — THCA edibles are made with decarboxylated extract (THC), not raw THCA. So "THCA gummies" are functionally the same as THC gummies, derived from hemp-compliant material.

Onset and Duration

  • Onset: 30 minutes to 2 hours (depends heavily on whether you've eaten recently)
  • Peak: 2–4 hours after onset
  • Total duration: 4–8 hours (much longer than smoking)

This delay is the most important thing to understand. Do not take more because "you don't feel anything" after 45 minutes. Wait the full 2 hours before evaluating.

Dosing Guide

  • Beginner (0–5mg THC equivalent): Very mild effects, good starting point
  • Moderate (5–15mg): Noticeable effects for most users
  • Experienced (15–30mg): Strong effects
  • High tolerance (30mg+): Very strong — not recommended for casual or infrequent users

Common Mistakes

  • Taking more too soon — the most common way to have a bad experience
  • Taking on an empty stomach — faster and stronger onset, can be overwhelming
  • Mixing with alcohol — significantly intensifies effects
  • Expecting the same timing as smoking — edibles are on their own timeline

If You've Taken Too Much

Stay calm, drink water, eat something, and find a comfortable place to lie down. CBD can help counteract an overwhelming THC experience. The effects will pass — no one has ever overdosed fatally on cannabis.
