Every THCA flower product lists a THCA percentage. Most people don't know what it actually means or how to use it. Here's the plain-language breakdown.

What THCA% Means

The THCA percentage is the proportion of THCA by weight in the dry flower. A product labeled 25% THCA means 250mg of THCA per gram of flower.

THCA is non-psychoactive in raw form. When you heat it (smoke, vape, dab), THCA converts to THC through decarboxylation. Roughly 87% of THCA converts to THC when fully decarboxylated. So 25% THCA = approximately 21.75% THC when consumed.

What Numbers to Expect

  • Below 15% THCA — Light. Suitable for beginners, mild experiences.
  • 15–20% THCA — Standard. This is the average range for most commercially available THCA flower.
  • 20–25% THCA — Potent. Most users feel strong effects.
  • 25–30%+ THCA — Very potent. Experienced users territory. Claims above 30% should be verified carefully — COA methodology matters at these levels.

Potency vs. Effect

THCA percentage is not the whole story. Terpenes significantly affect how you experience the same potency level. A 20% THCA strain with high myrcene will feel much heavier than a 20% THCA strain with high terpinolene. Potency sets the ceiling; terpenes shape the experience.

Testing Lab Variance

Different labs get different results for the same sample. Some labs consistently report higher numbers than others. A 28% result from one lab might be 23% from a more conservative lab. This is why buying from vendors who use consistent, accredited labs matters.
