Buying THCA flower by the pound or half-pound is one of the most reliable ways to cut costs — but bulk deals vary wildly in quality and actual value. Here's how to approach it.

Bulk Pricing Benchmarks

For reference, here's what you should expect to pay at different weights for quality indoor THCA flower:

  • 1g: $8–$15
  • 3.5g (eighth): $25–$45
  • 7g (quarter): $40–$75
  • 14g (half-oz): $70–$130
  • 28g (ounce): $120–$220
  • Quarter pound (112g): $400–$700
  • Half pound (224g): $700–$1,200
  • Pound (448g): $1,200–$2,000

What to Check Before Buying Bulk

  • COA per batch, not per strain — bulk lots should have a COA specific to the batch you're receiving, not a generic strain-level test.
  • Freshness — ask for harvest date. Bulk flower older than 6 months is a red flag.
  • Sample first — most reputable bulk vendors will send a sample eighth before you commit to a QP or pound. Ask.
  • Return policy — does the vendor accept returns on bulk if quality doesn't match description?

When Bulk Doesn't Make Sense

Buying more than you'll consume in 3–4 months creates storage challenges and quality degradation. Unless you're storing properly (vacuum-sealed, cool, dark), freshness is a bigger factor than bulk savings.
